The Kona and Orange Boy Operation Aloha Cat Flight

The Kona and Orange Boy Operation Aloha Cat Flight flew fourteen very lucky cats from Maui to Seattle Humane in Washington State on April 11, 2023 via our airline partner, Aloha Air Cargo.

This flight was sponsored and named by Renee, supporter and donor of Good Cat Network. Read more about Renee, her Maui rescue cat Orange Boy and her daughter’s Maui rescue cat Kona, in our first-ever Donor Spotlight, here.

Although each of these fourteen Maui flight kitties each have their own unique rescue story, we’ve chosen to highlight a momma cat named Sweetie. Story told by Jennie Kalani Ben-Dayan, founder of our non-profit foster partner, Honi Honi Cats Maui.

Sweetie was a stray cat from upcountry Maui, who had a litter of kittens hidden until they were about three weeks old when she decided to bring them onto a porch and show them off to the family who lived there.

She had SIX kittens! Four of them were Siamese, one black and one tiger tabby. ALL were beautiful and healthy.

She left, and the family thought she had left for good as they didn’t see her for a full day, so they called Honi Honi Cats Maui and we went to pick the kittens up.

Sweetie was watching! As we were loading the kittens up, she ran over to inspect. She wanted to get in to the carrier with them, so we got her background info and after being sure she was a community kitty no one was keeping as a pet, we offered to take her as well as she was SO SWEET (hence her name)

She came with us, continued to care for her babies until they were weaned and then got to really be spoiled and pampered in foster where she was fixed and then loved and loved and loved.

Sweetie is not on the streets anymore and no more babies!

All of Sweetie’s six kittens: Suzie Q, Saimin, Sammy, Swish, Seth and Sidney, were fostered by Honi Honi foster Victoria Cheromcka and adopted locally on Maui. Sweetie was the only one to get that sweet ticket to Seattle Humane Paradise! She has already been adopted as well.
