Petco Love and Good Cat Network Aim to Stop the Spread of Deadly Preventable Diseases

As Part of Petco Love’s Vaccinated and Loved Initiative to Provide an Additional One Million Free Pet Vaccines, Good Cat Network Gives Free Vaccines to Pet Families in Community

Maui, HI (May, 2025) – Good Cat Network will provide free vaccinations for Maui-area cats as part of its free monthly “Have A Nice Spay” spay and neuter clinics. The no-cost vaccines are made possible through Petco Love’s national vaccination initiative Vaccinated and Loved, which is providing an additional one million free pet vaccines for family pets in need to existing animal welfare partners, including Good Cat Network.

Panleukopenia in cats — the most prevalent deadly disease affecting cats — is preventable with a simple vaccine. An estimated 30% of pet parents do not take their pet to a veterinarian annually for preventative care. To ensure the health and wellness of our beloved pets and to address this critical need, Good Cat Network and Petco Love have partnered to make pet vaccines free and accessible.

Good Cat Network aims to vaccinate 100 pets monthly through this effort, while offering free spay and neuter services to the community. Vaccines distributed through the Petco Love initiative will be HCP Feline vaccines.

“Thanks to Petco Love, we can offer these important vaccines at no cost to pet owners,” said Darlene Rayhill, Executive Director of Good Cat Network. “We urge community members to take advantage of this free resource to ensure the health and wellness of our community’s pets and help address the cat overpopulation crisis affecting the island of Maui.”

Have A Nice Spay will run through 2025, offering monthly clinics with a goal of sterilizing 1275 cats.

“Vaccinations are vital to protecting our beloved pets from life-threatening but preventable diseases,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our goal is to make these critical vaccines accessible to as many pet parents as possible, breaking down financial barriers and strengthening the human-animal bond.”

In November 2024, Petco Love’s Vaccinated and Loved initiative reached its goal of distributing three million free pet vaccines for family pets, and the organization is determined to reach even more pets in need by providing an additional one million free vaccines. The campaign was launched in August 2021, encouraging Petco Love animal welfare partners to host free vaccine clinics.
