Did you know that up to 75% of a non-profit’s donations for the year are received during Giving Season?
As people new to the non-profit world, it’s something that we’ve learned pretty quickly! Giving season runs from Giving Tuesday (November 29th) until the end of the year.
We launched Good Cat Network about two weeks before Giving Tuesday last year. We were delighted to receive about 16K in donations during those four short Giving Season weeks, which helped us launch our ambitious efforts as we navigated the early days operating our Operation Aloha Cat flight program. Our operating budget this past year was over $50,000, all made possible due to the contributions from individual donors.
We are 100% volunteer run, and all donations are used to fund our programs.
Newer non-profits like us cannot apply for large grants or county funding just yet, so we rely on people just like you to meet our goals.
Costs add up quickly:
Fostering a cat costs $50 in supplies every month.
Flying a single cat to Seattle to our Rescue Shelter Partners costs $150.
Vet bills (which are always a surprise) average around $300.
Each Operation Aloha Cat flight costs an average of $2000.
In one year, we’ve flown 340+ cats out of Hawaii and into loving homes in Washington State via two Aloha Air Cargo flights a month. We want to help more cats find loving homes in 2023 by expanding our Operation Aloha Cat program.
We have already connected with a new rescue shelter partner and additional flights are on the horizon!
Please consider helping us this Giving Tuesday and during Giving Season, and share our story with a friend. We need to fund our 2023 efforts save as many cats as our funds allow.
Mahalo for your continued support, we could not do this without you.
"Good Cat Network is one of the main nonprofits that we support each year. I’ve known about the cat overpopulation and homeless crisis on Maui for more than 20 years now, and GCN is making amazing strides tackling the problem and saving lives, with emphasis on trap-neuter-return and fostering. Their program of shipping cats to the mainland, where there are so many more people who want to adopt cats, is genius. It gives me enormous relief and satisfaction to be able to support this organization, knowing that 100% of my funds go toward giving innocent creatures a better life, free from suffering. I am so grateful for their efforts and honored to support their work."
