Brynley, the eight-year-old from Florida raising money for Hawai’i rescues

When mom and animal-activist Heather wrote us shortly after the Maui Wildfires saying that her daughter Brynley wanted to make jewelry to raise money for Good Cat Network, I burst into tears. When I learned about Brynley’s impressive philanthropic resume over her short life, the tears continued! This eight-year-old has done so much to raise awareness of animal rights and radiates kindness wherever she goes. Being down about the world is easy these days, but learning about Brynley and what she is doing to change the world is what gives me hope for the next generation and the future of our planet. Mahalo, Brynley, for being you.

Here’s what Heather has to say about her daughter and her ohana:

“We are a vegan family of 5. I am in the fitness and wellness field and while I am vegan for ethical reasons, I realized that the most ethical diet happens to be the healthiest and, as a result, have been able to help so many clients find their best selves through plant based nutrition. Brynley is 8 and the youngest of my three kids (the oldest are 18 and 20). She has always been a strong animal rights advocate and has looked for ways to be with, and to help, animals since she could talk. She wrote a book about being vegan when she was 5 and shared it with her classmates. Every year for her birthday, she collects money for local farm animal sanctuaries in lieu of gifts. She has entered her vegan message based art (visual, literature, photography, dance choreography) into the National PTA Reflections program for the last 3 years. Brynley was actually named PETA Kid’s All Star for Animals 2021 for the work that she does for animals and veganism. After hearing about the Maui wildfires this year, she wanted to find a way to help. She decided to start making and selling necklaces to try to raise money for Good Cat Network and Leilani Farm Sanctuary. To date, she has raised over $900, but hopes to raise even more! Brynley absolutely loves visiting local farm sanctuaries and being with her animal friends. She also loves spending time with our adopted cats Sandy and Frenchie. When she’s not out saving animals, she loves theatre and dance and can be seen performing in both throughout the year!”
